The intake of volunteers for Terms 3 and 4 is now full
Applications for Duke of Edinburgh volunteering at Sutherland Library will reopen in January 2025 for terms 1 and 2.
What volunteering involves
Duke of Edinburgh Volunteering is offered at Sutherland Library on Wednesdays from 4pm to 5pm. Volunteers must be available each week during the school term at this time. Unfortunately, we are unable to support volunteers completing their silver or gold awards.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to take part in an intergenerational program sharing digital skills with seniors. Volunteers should have good communication skills, feel comfortable using digital devices and have an understanding of what it means to be safe online.
Tasks for volunteers
Volunteers may be required to complete the following tasks:
- Shelving – putting library books on shelves in the correct place, or removing items as required.
- Shelf tidying – ensuring that items on the shelf are in the correct order.
- Preparing craft and other items for library programs.
- Administration, e.g. filling paper in photocopiers, labelling books.
- Helping prepare children’s programs.
